COLORADO SPRINGS – Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some options:
Skate in the Park
It is the final weekend for Skate in the Park at Acacia in downtown Colorado Springs. It will be open to the public from 11 a.m to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. To get in, it costs $10 per person which includes skates, and children under the age of 4 get in free with a paying adult. Anyone who presents a valid military ID can get $1 off.
Painting With a Twist
Saturday evening, downtown in the Springs, Painting With a Twist is hosting a Military Appreciation Paint & Sip night. Everyone who attends will receive free drinks and a gift at the end of the class. Jess Preble created the painting “Battlefield Cross” that will honor the military demographic.The Battlefield Cross has long been recognized and used as a marker for a fallen soldier and Treble hopes this painting will be well received in the military community as it recognizes and honors the ultimate sacrifice given by those who serve. The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center
Also on Saturday, The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center is offering free museum admission. But don’t worry if you can’t make it this Saturday as free admission is offered the second Saturday and third Friday of each month. In addition the Fine Arts Center is hosting “Dogfight: A Benefit Concert” with funds raised earmarked for the Youth Repertory Program along with other Theatre School classes at the Fine Arts Center. Buckley’s Homestead Supply
If you want to learn how to make your own lotions, body scrubs, lip balms, or soaps, you’ll have the opportunity this weekend at Buckley’s Homestead Supply. Two different classes will be held on Saturday – Soap Making at 10:30 a.m. and Lotions, Scrubs, and Lip Balm at 2:30 p.m. Buckley’s will be relocating in the next few weeks to a larger location that will allow them to hold more and bigger classes. Broadmoor Ice Hall
This weekend the Broadmoor Ice Hall is continuing to host ice skating for the public. Beginners can learn to skate on Saturday from 10:40 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. followed by public skating from noon to 1 p.m. On Sunday, public skating is available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Their website contains all the information you need to enjoy time on a professional level ice rink.
The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo
If you need a little country in your life, a big event happening in Denver is the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.
From this weekend through January 21, head up to Denver for “The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.” Activities this weekend include a Wild West show preview, Pedal Tractor Races, Horse Shows, Livestock shows, and the Pro Rodeo. Tickets are on sale now. Check out the website.
